MWM GmbH relocated their spare parts logistics from Cologne to Lorsch (“Hessische Bergstraße”) in the course of a restructuring in the beginning of November. i+o Industrieplanung + Organisation had been entrusted with planning and realizing the new logistics centre by MWM GmbH, the worldwide leading supplier of systems of electricity generation.

MAN Nutzfahrzeuge has officially broken ground in Salzgitter/ Lower Saxony. The construction of a new logistics centre of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge has thus started. The facility is located very close to the MAN production plant on an 188,000 sq-m site. The logistics building will offer 52,000 sq m of space for storage and worldwide distribution of spare parts for trucks, buses and components. i+o Industrieplanung + Organisation has been entrusted with the implementation company of the project.

During the winter semester 2009/2010 von Strachwitz will give a course of lectures for the faculty architecture at the FH at Muenster, on the life cycle management of real estate. This topic comprises all core competences concerning the planning, building, processing and marketing of buildings. The life of a building starts with the planning and realization stage, followed by the building and maintenance management and ending with the dismantling / deconstruction or the further utilization of the object.

On November 25, 2009, SAP invited for its logistics event of the year as usual. The SAP Info Day “Warehouse and Transportation Management“ took place at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim and offered once again a multitude of practical contributions of SAP logistics applications. As official SAP Business Partner, i+o Industrieplanung + Organisation was again presented with its information stand.

Due to the vivid attendance of the i+o speech held in May 2009 at the University of Hohenheim i+o happily corresponded to the invitation of extending the lectures concerning “quality management” for the studies in the field of food and science technology. Since the response from professors as well as from students has consistently been positive i+o will now give lectures on a half-year basis on this topic.

The 26th German Logistics Congress took take place in Berlin from October 21 to 23, 2009, themed “Success comes from within”. This year’s conference was focused on internal processes and structures in a company to maintain competitiveness on the long term even in these economic difficult time. Heidelberg’s i+o Industrieplanung + Organisation again presented itself and introduced special reference projects on this year’s congress with her own booth.

Being a consulting company, PhC supported the pharmaceutical group in realizing a fully automated production site to produce smoking addiction medication (Varenicline) at Illertissen, Germany. On 28th October 2009 Mr. Ernst Sander will give a speech at the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering ISPE event in New Jersey, USA.

In line with the rapid re-development of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the impending return of their existing flight catering facility site, Oberoi Flight Services Delhi, has commissioned i+o to design their new state-of-the-art flight catering facility, to replace their current ageing facility.

For more than 50 years, i+o has gained a wide range of project experience and thus developed specific knowledge. Making this collected knowledge available to each individual colleague has been the aim of the internal project “Set-up of a Knowledge Management System“. In order to achieve the know-how transfer desired i+o now focuses on digitalization of its knowledge. Therefore an i+o internal knowledge data base has been realized.

On the 6 July 2009, EIH Flight Services Ltd., Mauritius, a member of The Oberoi Group, has celebrate the ground breaking ceremony for the start of construction of their new Flight Catering Facility in Mauritius. The new Facility will have a final capacity of 10,000 meals/day and is scheduled to be operational by May 2010.

In response to the successful growth of the last several years i+o has opened a new office location in Dusseldorf, Germany. On 1st June i+o moved into a 480 m² office close to the Dusseldorf airport with 20 modern equipped work places. The convenient location in the regional capital of North Rhine-Westphalia i+o can better satisfy the growing number of customers in this region.

With the integrated introduction of SAP in the production unit, the DHU team and i+o have successfully completed the expansion projects of Germany’s leading manufacturer of homeopathic drugs. The newly created IT system’s architecture allows the handling of about 400,000 different finished drugs – from the production of the active agent via shape forming to the packaged drug.

The operating company of the Vnukovo airport, 30 miles southwest of Moscow, has commissioned i+o Industry Planning + Organization GmbH & Co. KG for the planning of their new catering facility. With this project, i+o has obtained yet another contract in Russia. The Vnukovo airport is not only used for domestic flights but also for destinations throughout Europe, as well as for private jets and is known as Russia‘s presidents airport. In view of the current expansion of the airport to 10 million passengers per year, the catering facility is now also adjusting to the new volume.

Since this year, i+o has been a member of NAMUR – an international user association of automation technology in process industries. In 1949, NAMUR was founded as standardization association for measurement and control in chemical industries. NAMUR is engaged in the following key activities: systems for measurement, control and feedback control, process analytics, process control systems, operations management, communication systems and operational logistics systems.

Following an intensive adjustment and realisation phase, the newly implemented warehouse management system SAP LES for the Distribution Centre of RWZ Rhein Main eG went live thanks to i+o Industry Planning + Organization GmbH & Co. KG. The project management consisted of the project steps Business Blueprint, Customising, Implementation, and Go-live Preparation as well as subsequent Go Live Support.

Thomas Kilimann, Director/Partner of i+o, became an official member of the BVL Research Council (German Logistics Association) in mid May. The research branches of the BVL conduct research projects within a large spectrum of logistics topics. This includes universities and colleges as well as other research institutes that are accredited by the BVL.

Doha – 05/19/2009 The gulf state Qatar intends to build an airport of superlatives. The New Doha International Airport is currently erected on an area of 4,900 acres directly on the coast and is scheduled to go into operation in mid 2011. In its first stage of extension the new airport is planned for about 24 million airline passengers, and the second stage calculates about 48 million passengers.

Once again this year PhC together with its headquaters i+o and its partner KOP welcomed many visitors to its booth. So there was a lively exchange on current projects, planned construction projects and exciting acquisitions. With small and well attended fingerfood the visitors had a little break from the usual hectic at the fair and were able to chat about interesting stories concerning their industry branch.

Already during project planning and the implementation of the new factory, the future pharma operations team was established and expanded. In addition to the exciting yet stressful project work in the team, fun is vital! As a sporty balance, the colleagues of B.Braun have formed a biking team to keep fit together and to work off the daily stress. i+o was happy to sponsor B.Braun’s tricots, so that the upcoming bike tours were ready to get on the road.

On May 13, 2009, i+o participated for the first time in the lecture series “Quality Management“ of the study course food technology at the University Hohenheim in Stuttgart. The speaker on the subject “Quality by Design – Quality assurance by functional planning of operations“ was Steffen Moll, Business Unit Manager Food.

At its new site at Baden-Airpark, the Rauch Agricultural Machinery GmbH - a company with a rich tradition - celebrated its topping-out ceremony on April 8, 2009. The 140 guests from the political and economic arena included Mr. Jürgen Bäuerle (District Administrator of the Rastatt district) and Mrs. Ursula Lazarus (member of the state parliament), as well as i+o consultant Hermann Konradi.

The German Materials Flow Conference in Munich is one of the relevant industry meeting places of technical logistics in Germany. On April 2 and 3, 2009 over 500 experts and about 40 exhibitors in the area of logistics technology came together for the 18th time in Munich-Garching for an intensive exchange of experience and for constructive discussions.

At this industry meeting, which carries great significance in Germany, i+o Industry Planning + Organization was again successfully represented with an informative stand this year. During the conference, visitors had the opportunity to exchange and receive information in direct dialogue with representatives of i+o about the broad services and the exiting logistics projects.

For the second time, the Heidelberg-based Consulting and Planning Company was present at Europe’s largest annual intra-logistics fair which took place from March 3rd to 5th at the new exhibition centre. At stand 307 in hall 5, i+o presented selected logistics projects and showed, how from up to now successfully operated supply chains can be optimised.

This year’s Pharma Conference will take place on March 3rd and 4th in Mannheim, Germany. By means of selected case studies, experts in the field will present how the pharmaceutical industry picks up trends and topics from these areas and implements them into practice. One of the speakers is Ernst Sander, Managing Director of PhC PharmaConsult GmbH.

On January 15, 2009 B. Braun Melsungen AG celebrated the topping out ceremony for its new factory, LIFE Nutrition with the associated lab building. A total budget of EUR190 million represents the largest investment of the company to date. B.Braun again counted on the support of i+o-Group to implement this large-scale project.

Since early January 2009, the cafeteria at the University of Bremen at Neustadtswall has restarted its operation. After roughly 16 months of modifications and renovation, it now offers a modernised food counter and a newly designed patrons area with cafébar. The kitchen technology of the overall facility was also fully updated.

With the former CEO of IKB Property Management GmbH, Mauritz Baron von Strachwitz, i+o Industry Planning + Organization has gained a recognized expert for the team. The 57 year old, who has joined the worldwide active planning and consulting company as Senior Business Unit Manager in December, will be in charge of expanding and leading project management into an independent business division starting in 2009. This is i+o's response to the increasing demand for an integrated control of projects including financing and investment management.
